Content Writer (Cool Camping)

About us

Cool Camping is Britain’s most loved and trusted camping brand, as highlighted by our Trustpilot reviews. We find amazing places for people to stay in the outdoors, whether that’s a quiet, remote campsite to pitch your own tent, a family safari tent with a wood-fired hot tub, or a luxurious treehouse with knockout views. We want to inspire people to get outdoors, to find fun and adventure in the fresh air, to sleep under the stars and make happy memories with friends and family around a campfire. If you think you can help inspire people too, with concise writing that paints a vivid picture and connects with our audience, then we would like to hear from you.

Cool Camping is part of the Tripadee group, a travel technology company that also includes the Cool Places and Glampingly websites, and the Bedful accommodation booking system. Our brands are established and well known in their sectors – but we’re actually a small team of less than 25 people. We have big growth plans for the next few years, including the objective to make Cool Camping the number one camping bookings website in the UK.

About the role; main responsibilities

  • Writing inspiring and engaging copy for the Cool Camping website. This would include updating and creating listing text for campsites, glamping accommodation, and campervans to hire; writing blog articles and listicles; creating regional or thematic guides. Our customers rely on Cool Camping for all the information they need to book their holiday, so we need to be direct and concise, but a bit of fun, humour and irreverence are very much part of the Cool Camping tone of voice.

  • Spotting relevant and interesting news and creating original articles from press releases or other source information.

  • Potential to contribute to wider marketing copy, e.g. newsletters, social posts, company press releases and promotional materials.

  • Updating and editing existing web copy and proofreading text written by colleagues.

About you

  • Creative, imaginative and able to write with flair, you will have experience writing engaging, fluid content and know how to write to fit a brief.

  • You have an excellent eye for detail, with good knowledge of correct spelling and grammar and the ability to write inline with a set style guide.

  • You’re capable of switching tones to suit an audience, understanding the differences needed when writing for social media, for B2B audiences or for long-form online copy.

  • You have an understanding of basic SEO principles and know how to incorporate keywords into your content.

  • You are qualified to a degree level or have a commensurate level of writing experience.

  • You have an interest in camping and the outdoors and are excited about the idea of sharing this with others.

  • You're enthusiastic, hard working and have a willingness to learn.

  • You’re comfortable working independently and are happy working in both an office environment with colleagues as well as working from home.
N.B. This role is currently home-based but the ideal candidate would be willing to travel to our office in London or Birmingham at least once a week.
